Flower growing through a seam in the concrete

Hi Everyone! For those of you who have followed my blog, you know it has been a long time since I posted, and even longer since I posted regularly.

I can make a lot of excuses, but the truth is, I have been struggling for a while.

The grief journey is not linear, and it is not predictable.

From the time that Cecil got sick, my storytelling was my refuge. It kept me afloat in the early days of my grief. But somewhere over the last two years, my storytelling became a struggle. It took so much time and effort to finish my last book. I thought maybe the well was empty, and I had nothing more to say.

Somehow, I woke up this morning with a million stories to tell. Like that little flower that is blooming in an unexpected place, my inner storyteller has pushed through the clutter in my mind and taken a from row seat, and she is heckling me to get her stories into the world.

There are lots of exciting developments to share, and I will share them over time. I want to connect with you again, readers. I want to be a regular presence in your life, and I want to inspire and encourage you.

This is the first step. I want you to know that no matter how dark it is, there is still light somewhere. You can and you will find the light. Just like that little flower finding soil below the concrete and sunlight above, you can thrive in the most unlikely places.
