The Greatest Gift

Carolyn A., whoever you are, thank you! I am not exaggerating when I tell you that the greatest gift you can give to an author is a review.

Every morning as part of my morning routine, I check my Amazon author page to see if I have any additional ratings or reviews. Ratings are exciting on their own merit, but reviews? Reviews literally make my day.

The life of a writer is a lonely one in many ways. I spend many hours alone in the stories I write. It is hard sometimes to keep going. I don't sell many books, and without ratings and reviews, I don't know if the few books I sell are being enjoyed.

But every once in a while, there is a review like this one, that makes me want to keep trying. To keep writing and putting my stories out there.

This review is for "Count Your Blessings", my first book. I hope that Carolyn A. is encouraged to read more of my work, having enjoyed this book.

I am in that strange space where "Blessed By Discovery" is finished, and I am planning the next book in the series. I have started drafting story lines, and figuring out what the main theme of the book will be, but I haven't gotten so far as drafting an outline or actually starting to write. Until I publish "Blessed By Discovery", there is no positive feedback loop to push me to keep going.

This review is the shot of adrenaline I needed to move that next book out of concept and into reality. Thanks to all of you who have left reviews in the past. Please, not just for my books, but for any books you read and appreciate, think about leaving a review. It is such a small investment of time to really make someone's day.
