December, Interrupted

I had such plans for December. Three theater performances. A trip to see my grand niece christened a Catholic. Training for a 10 mile race in January. At least some of my plans have materialized.
December 3 brought a dental emergency and oral surgery including a bone graft. Lost a couple of days to that. Went to the theater on December 6 in somewhat of a haze, but loved seeing a friend's son as Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.
Off to the Christening, which was an absolutely wonderful trip. Home and rapidly sick, not COVID or flu, but not well either.
Lucky to go to St. Michael's Special School Christmas play and "Back to the Future" at the Saenger, although by the end of "Back to the Future", I was feeling miserable.
And in the middle of all of this, my refrigerator stopped working reliably. Waiting at home today for the new refrigerator to be delivered. Christmas food shopping not done, Christmas cookies not baked. Planning to feel enough better next week to get it all done. Have walked less than 15 miles this month! Training on purpose but disciplined to start next week. Haven't written a word in my work in progress since December 2nd.
Will see the Nutcracker tomorrow, featuring a very special young lady as a mouse. Meeting a friend for a Christmas cocktail on December 23.
Trying to stay ahead of the sadness that is stalking - the lack of schedule and unforeseen challenges make that harder.
But I'm here, and I'm trying, and I'm writing, which is therapeutic for me.
Wish me luck folks, as I try to make up for lost time in the next week.
