Good News - Part One

Book Eleven is finished! Written, edited, proofread, alpha reader reviewed, cover completed. Just waiting on copyright to come through.
This book challenged me in so many ways - I don't really understand why it took me so long to complete. But now that it is finished and ready to go, I am really proud of it and I think it is a good and worthwhile story.
One of the things that I learned while writing this book is that I can't force my writing. I have to let the story develop and transcribe it.
I don't know how other writers do it, but for me, there is a lot of incubation time. And sometimes when I write something before it is ready, it just gets deleted.
Everything will happen in the time it is supposed to happen.
After I finished this book, I had a brief window where I didn't want to write anything. I wondered if I was empty of ideas.
But I just needed some rest.
I am not a fan of rest. Rest is necessary. I had a conversation the other day, where we talked about how you can't pour from an empty cup.
There are times in our lives where we have to focus on filling the cup. That is not a failure. That is not being unproductive. That is a necessary step.
If you find yourself with an empty cup, please, take the time to do the things for yourself that fill you back up.
That is not selfish. That is not neglecting others. That is the self-care necessary to go back to pouring out.
If you are reading this, and feeling empty, please know you have my support and love as you take a step back and take the time to fill yourself up again.
Remember what is says in Ecclesiastes 3:1: "There is an appointed time for everything, and a time for every affair under the heavens.".
